Professor,

Loathe as I am to disrupt what I am sure is a stimulating evening, would you be so kind as to join the Governors in the Headmistress' office?

There is a matter one would have thought trifling but which has apparently engendered such debate as to keep us through the appointed hour and then some besides. Suspect that were you to appear we might resolve the issue in short order and thence entreat Peakes to release us back to our other appointed duties.

If you don't mind, of course.

Heard from Hopkirk that there are new guests in MLE's dungeons. See if you can free up time between this evening and Friday; Truncheon has offered to work with an audience.

Also, tell Diggory he has stalled long enough; Ms Drumgoole has been promised the beast and she should be allowed to take possession of her property. Make it end of the week if they need me along as the plaintiff - whatever it takes. Get it done.

Confirm with Selwyn and International Magic regarding Froissart's list of names. There's a rising fourth-year who might be a good public relations opportunity for the Prophet - displaced but returning, &c. Similar to the job Bole did on that Thomas boy two years ago. Check with Bagman: If the mother can be convinced to come early, could put them in at the Cup. Good diplomacy, if nothing else.

Saw your note regarding a summer intern. Possibly. Mordred knows there are enough projects ongoing to generate enough work for two. That's assuming you continue to do at least the work of one. Find the top three out of the rising 7th-years and let us review them Monday next.

That reminds me, though: Have not heard from Draco regarding his party this year. May wish something more interesting than last. Check with Mrs Malfoy to see if she has any ideas. Meanwhile, write Ned and take Crouch up on his offer of tickets once Draco's home.

Did you arrange the flowers per my request? Jonquils, orchids and roses, as instructed.

Do recall it is the first of the month and accounts must be settled.

What's this from Dolores about serving on a YPL advisory committee? No, I've no time to add anything new. Pass it to Yaxley. He's a better choice for planning orienteering and such at any rate.

Are you quite sure you said nothing to Fudge to set him off? He's been a trifle peevish this week. Miss Robins mentioned he may cancel to-morrow's meeting. See that he does not.

I take it all back; this is vastly diverting. In its wild inaccuracy, if nothing else!

'Dominic's' hair ... 'Dolores' as a lithesome, gracious, curl-headed brunette .... Must not laugh aloud - but Morgana, it's difficult.

I will admit that your imitator, Raz, has some of your mannerisms down pat (the obvious advantage of paying attention to your lessons, no doubt). And the girl portraying Barty is quite good - I think in fact she does his sneer better than he himself!

Ari, if there's any young lady your boy's trying to impress, it's clearly Miss Moon. Otherwise how could he possibly associate himself with this farce?

Ahha-- Norah!

(Pardon. Narcissa is helpfully digging her nails into my thigh so neither of us dissolves into peals of laughter. Suspect we shall find ourselves both relieved and excessively sorry we did not indulge with much wine at supper.)

Looking more and more forward to the opportunity to take that holiday, as the summer agenda has been decidedly full.

Sites one through six have been identified and plans underway to utilise them in more appropriate ways. Crispin surprised me, taking a lead in the last two walk-throughs; Gibson asked at luncheon earlier this week whether I thought Crispin did not have particular talent in the field. Replied that I should not have allowed his continued absence from his regular duties were it not so. However, had no desire for Gibson to fly away with the notion Crispin's services are not essential to the smooth administration of my offices.

Particularly considering that his absence has been felt more keenly at some times than others. Confess that on the whole, our young acolyte's performance has been acceptable. Suspect that his early successes led him to presume too much - but such is the nature of learning. At any rate it's sorted now. Still, perhaps it is as well we agreed he would have the week for the YPL trip with the rising second-years. Expect that his final two weeks, on his return, shall exhibit to a greater degree not only his eagerness to perform his tasks with efficiency, but also better sensitivity to the nuances of the position and, dare I say, influence wielded from behind the gates of this house.

For the moment, plans have proceeded in good faith and with apparent good progress toward our latest review of the loyalty programmes. Met with Cornelius yesterday and then luncheon with Plympton and Massopust for progress report on their audits. Certain Our Lord will be pleased with their results when they are presented at Court to-day.

Despite the continued rain, there have been no plans to curtail any of our activities at the week-end. Cannot say the same for the hapless YPL group! Suspect Barty will indeed get his wish and there shall be no incidents in Hyde Park, if only because the group will likely be compelled to spend its afternoon at the Horseguards. Must admit their antics - viewed from a distance - have proven diverting. If there is one thing this summer has shown, it is that the gap between this week's participants and last week's is not solely temporal.

Speaking of time - Pansy, I did happen on one of the volumes I had promised to look out for you: Priscillianus' Vincis, Tractus et Tempus Itineri. Don't worry - the edition I particularly wanted for you is a concordance, so the English is on the opposing page. I had quite forgot that Millingham's text is not always definitive, however. I shall be happy to provide it to you soon but allow me to see whether I can obtain a copy of Jonson's translation as well. The language may be a touch more poetical, but I believe comparison between the two will prove edifying.

The next few weeks promise an extremely busy agenda. It seems everyone has been waiting to hold a myriad of celebrations, personal meetings, get-togethers and other assemblies until the spectre of Black’s epidemic could be lifted. Between official functions, camp inspections, work site tours, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and of course the raft of introduction parties, we expect to maintain quite a pace for some time to come. Even allowing for the invitations we must, regrettably, decline, Narcissa and I have are not like to have an evening or a week-end to ourselves until perhaps the middle of June - if then! In many ways, it is just as well our son elected to hold a much more intimate birthday party (though the final headcount remains in flux), as she hardly has the time to plan a larger gala.

It is, however, good to see the social calendar - and with it, business interests - picking up. Magical Commerce this morning had positive reports all round: Nearly every sector of industry is on the rise once more. The Committee were all glad to see Revati Patil looking fit and in decent spirits, considering; she said only that she has been grateful to get back to work. In fact, she and Narcissa seem to be thinking along the same lines, for when I passed along my wife's message she responded quite favourably, saying again how much she appreciated our presence at the funeral. Naturally, it was our solemn duty to represent not only our own family, but the Lord Protector Himself, whose heartfelt condolences we carried. But it is also true that Narcissa has respect for Revati as a designer and had been about to make an overture when we learned of the tragedy that struck her and her kin, so it is excellent news that Revati looks forward to meeting with Narcissa to discuss her project ideas.

Apart from Draco's birthday, our other summer plans appear to be forming into a more definite shape. Crispin has the dates for the YPL activities in New London and while there were a couple of conflicts, we have re-arranged the timetable slightly to account. (Fortunately, the schedule does make it just possible that a jaunt might be arranged in time to give the bride away in July. Yes, Amanda, I know I said it was highly remote, but I recognise its importance to you and thus I have not dismissed the possibility altogether. Most likely it would be myself alone, however, and not the whole family - and it would be brief, my dear, as well. Afraid you shall have to content yourself with it. Cannot at this moment even guarantee the wedding itself, much less rehearsal or dinner the previous day.)

Crispin has also suggested it might be agreeable to participate in the intern programme implemented last year to offer opportunities to rising seventh-year students. Had discussed it last year, in fact, but the trip to France made it impractical; however, this year, it might be useful. There is time yet to consider.

Well. Luncheon with Warrington and Rowle; doubtless they wish to discuss allocations back into the camps to help re-integrate the recovering muggles with their reinforcements who were awakened during the crisis.
