Barty, did you receive an owl from Razzer's intended this after-noon? Mine indicates she sent you a similar note.

If it signifies what I believe it signifies, we ought to meet. Name place and time.

Narcissa, do not wish you to fret: Draco is still un-involved, if Sinistra's message is accurate. Given what he told us on his return from the CCF, his rôle thus far has been as a conduit more than an end in itself. Do not think he is in any real danger. However, want to see Barty's analysis of this latest before sharing its contents with you, dearest. Just to be sure.

You already know my opinion about Draco offering to step into the flames but he's enough your son that I know it's pointless to protest. Shall I assume, then, that I'm included here more to throw off the chase than because you have real information for me?

Let us see what Barty says first, my love, but based on this I see no reason to change your plans. You and the boys ought not be disturbed at all; I have been debating whether it would be preferrable to join you later this week. Thursday, perhaps. Otherwise I may simply have to go with you to Pembroke and return on Wednesday, which seems inefficient.

As for the other accusation, it is both. A message to both of you could be many things, to the outside eye. However, I have every intention of providing you and Draco with as much information as we need to be prepared - particularly if you leave to-morrow and I follow. It's still unclear what his endgame is. It could be the opportunity he's looking for - but whether that opportunity is in Wales or New London is ... impossible to say.

Is Court that necessary? Couldn't you come in just for the afternoon, if it is?

I know what we agreed. But yes, Court is that necessary. As is the preparation for and action after Court. It's going to be difficult enough absenting myself on Friday.

Working from the seaside is simply not as convenient. I promise I shall join you Thursday, even if it means staying at the St James' house 'round the clock. (Let us hope that is an exaggeration!)

You needn't make it sound as if I'm doddering, either, Rio. I'm perfectly well.

Yes, have heard from her. Not sure what to make of it. Stint trying to rid himself of a nuisance, apparently. Why he should have such an obsession with the Hogwarts matron, I can't imagine.

But if he's manoeuvred her to an ice station the other side of Maebh's fences, I take it he's done using poison. (I do wonder if the professor's imagination was stretching facts on that point, but I understand she's submitted materials for testing, so we shall see.)

Don't like that he's concentrated all his interests in Wales.

Narcissa. How did you come to choose Pembroke? Was it someone else's suggestion?

As for Pembroke, it was rather a spot on the map. Our last holiday was in the east so I thought the western coast would be lovely. And I remembered Pembroke from holidays when Bella and I were girls.

I can assure you no one influenced me. Merely a coincidence.

Has Bella said whether she and Rod are joining you? What about Rabastan?

~~More security?~~ I hope it's a very discreet distance, Barty. We tried so hard not to have to bother with all that, for Draco and Harry's sake.

Bella hasn't answered, which is not at all unusual; I would not be surprised if Mrs Baylock turned up with Hydra and Rigel in tow, nor if we did not see any of them the whole week.

As for Razzer, I gather that Aurora has taken on the burden of their social calendar. Yes, we shall see a little of them toward the weekend.

Surely we don't need them to cancel their plans together so he can stay closer to Harry? If Lucius came tomorrow we'd have all the wands we need.

Asking Raz to accompany you and the boys is a wise alternative.

Barty, is there any merit in someone besides yourself alerting Maebh? Or would that present more problems than it might resolve?

Not sure it's wise to approach Maebh at all. It's entirely possible she's among those for whom Stint is serving as pawn.

Someone could go and try to strong arm her into standing back, but you know as well as I do, she's likely to take that as a challenge. And it risks tipping our hand to Stint.

I think Maebh will have to make her own moves in this. As always.
